On the morning of June 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the construction site of the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant. This project, located in Vinh Son Hamlet, Quang Dong Commune, Quang Trach District, is being developed in the Hon La Seaport Industrial Park, covering a total area of approximately 48.6 hectares within the Quang Trach Power Center.

The project was approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 428 on March 18, 2016, which amended the National Power Development Plan for 2011-2020, with a vision to 2030 (Adjusted Power Plan VII).

During the inspection, the Prime Minister urged the contractor to realign the construction timeline to ensure the project's completion by August 30, 2025, in time for the plant to generate electricity on September 2, 2025, in celebration of the 80th National Day.

Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant comprises two units with a total capacity of 1,200MW. Once operational, it will supply approximately 8.4 billion kWh of electricity annually to the national grid. The project has a total investment of VND 41,130 billion (equivalent to USD 1.86 billion), funded by 30% from the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and 70% from domestic commercial loans.

The Prime Minister also inspected the 500kV Transmission Line (TL) project, Circuit 3, from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, specifically at position No. 09 of the Quang Trach-Quynh Luu section in Quang Dong Commune, Quang Trach District.

As of May 31, 2024, the entire 500kV Circuit 3 TL project has completed 1,177/1,177 foundation positions, handed over 775/1,177 steel poles, erected 748/1,177 poles, and completed 41/513 tension spans. The project site has largely been handed over to the contractor for pole erection and wire stringing.

The 500kV Circuit 3 TL project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi includes four sub-projects: Quang Trach-Quynh Luu TL, Quynh Luu-Thanh Hoa TL, Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant-Thanh Hoa TL, and Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant-Pho Noi TL.

The project spans approximately 519km, traversing 211 communes, wards, and towns across 43 districts and towns in nine provinces: Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hung Yen. It includes a total of 1,177 pole foundations, with a total investment of approximately VND 22,300 billion.
